What is Dakshina?

Dakshinas are traditional financial gifts given to the spiritual guide as tokens of loving gratitude.  These help support Yogi Shyamasundara as he serves God and humanity.  Your financial gifts are immensely helpful and deeply appreciated.

Dakshinas can be offered via Zelle using the email: dakshina@shyamasundara.org

Does my dakshina support Yogi Shyamasundara personally?

Yes. Your dakshinas support Yogi Shyamasundara’s basic needs, providing the means for him to continue his full-time service to God and humanity. Since there is no organization above him, supporting Yogi Shyamasundara is supporting the mission.

Is it appropriate for an ordained yogi to receive financial support?

Yes. It is not only appropriate, it is dharmically supported and required.

In all traditions, ordained monks and spiritual guides are supported by the community because they dedicate their lives fully to serving God and humanity.

It is dharmically important to remember:

When you receive from God, you must help sustain God’s work.

All who benefit have a sacred duty to support it.

This transforms curiosity seekers into responsible seekers, devotees, and disciples.

A true seeker asks, “How can I support the spiritual guide that supports my spiritual life?”

When you take without giving, your spiritual path weakens; when you give, your spiritual path strengthens.  This is karmic law.

A spiritual mission cannot survive if people only receive and never give.

This mission survives because each of you supports it.

Since Yogi Shyamasundara is a full-time formally ordained yogi, who maintains a holy mission of God and Self-Realization, this requires real-world support.

Are dakshinas tax-deductible?

Since dakshinas are financial gifts that directly support the spiritual guide, they're not tax-deductible.  No services are offered in exchange for dakshinas.

Thank you for your kind support and generosity!  Jai Śrī Kṛṣṇa! Oṁ Namo Nārāyaṇāya
